Azerbaijani Media: Artsakh Resident Karen Avanesyan Arrested in Stepanakert

Azerbaijani media outlets report that Karen Avanesyan, a resident of Artsakh, has been arrested in Stepanakert. He was allegedly armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, four loaded magazines, and five grenades.

According to the same sources, Avanesyan threw three hand grenades at police officers and opened fire from the assault rifle, at which point he was wounded by return fire and arrested.

One police officer was wounded. A preliminary investigation of the criminal case is underway.
