Azerbaijan Opens Transit for Armenia Amid "Corridor" Rhetoric

The Aliyev-Tokayev meeting in Astana became a symbol of a new regional political dynamic. The parties announced the start of a new phase of peace and historic progress in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan has lifted all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. The Armenian authorities also welcomed this step, viewing it as an important move towards strengthening trust and opening communications. Despite the consistent rejection and open dissatisfaction of the Armenian authorities, Aliyev continues to use the so-called "Zangezur corridor" term.
