Authorities Push "Incomprehensible Vendetta" Theory: Arakelyan

Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the "Country to Live" party, has stated that he does not believe the official version that Valodya Grigoryan's murder was carried out as a vendetta. "The authorities' representatives are speculating on the version of an incomprehensible vendetta, regarding which we consider it necessary to note the following," Arakelyan wrote. "Valodya Grigoryan did not have any personal problems with anyone; during his activities, he was exclusively guided by the principle of being 'the community head for all,' doing his utmost for the sake of unity and solidarity.
Valodya Grigoryan and his brother had no connection whatsoever with the incident that took place in Merdzavan village in February. The illegal detention of Valodya Grigoryan's brother was a manifestation of political pressure before the March 30 elections, about which Valodya Grigoryan made an official statement on February 8.
Even according to the charges brought by the prosecutor's office, Valodya Grigoryan's brother is accused exclusively of hooliganism, having no connection to the murder.
After the arrest of the primary person in the murder of Valodya Grigoryan (the brother of the person killed in February), the Ministry of Internal Affairs showed a disgracefully unprofessional approach, presenting the murder as a continuation of the February events, thus performing the function of a court. This is an unacceptable manifestation of giving a political assessment by the law enforcement system.
The arrest of the person who allegedly committed the murder the next day made it clear that the fabricated vendetta version has no connection with reality," wrote Mesrop Arakelyan, urging law enforcement to also find the masterminds of these murders.
