Armed clashes in As-Suwayda have ceased: Syrian MoD

Syrian Defense Minister Abu Qasr has announced a truce in the southern city of As-Suwayda, after reaching an agreement with the city's elders and leadership. According to him, strict instructions have been given to the Syrian army forces that entered the city on the morning of July 15, regarding ensuring the safety of civilians. The minister added that after completing the "clearing of the territory," control of the city will be transferred to the internal security forces.

According to Syrian media, heavy equipment is currently being withdrawn from the city.

Against the backdrop of this escalation, Israeli media report that an emergency meeting was held in Israel with the participation of DM Katz and Chief of General Staff Zamir. According to the media, the issue of what dangers these developments might pose "for the Druze living in the aforementioned city" was discussed.
