Armenia's Seismic Network Joins International Federation
31 OCT 2025 12:15
The seismological network of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Territorial Service for Seismic Protection has joined the platform of the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN), receiving full member status and being included in the official list. It is represented by 6 seismic stations under the name Armenian National Seismic Network.
The Armenian National Seismic Network registers and analyzes local, regional, and distant strong seismic events. The six seismic stations record the horizontal and vertical components of seismic waves and carry out continuous data transmission, ensuring real-time access to seismic observations on international scientific platforms.
The inclusion of the seismological network in the FDSN system guarantees the international recognition and long-term preservation of seismic data.
Membership in the international platform promotes Armenia's global scientific integration, as seismic observations become part of the global seismic database. From a technical and scientific cooperation perspective, it will enable the application of standards and tools developed by the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks, as well as provide access to the seismic databases of other countries.
