Artsakh War Veterans Return Medals in Protest at Government

2 OCT 2025 08:52
A group of participants of the Artsakh war gathered in front of the government building and announced that they are returning the orders and medals they received for fighting for the motherland. The protesters told journalists that the current government, in order not to admit its mistakes, is trying to edit our history, trying to nullify the life, hardships, and struggle that they have lived and waged.
"We are told that our struggle of the last 30 years, the idea of which our republic was proclaimed with and which was the ideological basis of our state, was false. We received these orders for participating in a part of the military operations in the northern direction, in the 'Yeghnikner', during the 44-day war. We can no longer wear these orders when every value, every idea, every sacrifice that was at the heart of these orders has been nullified and we are told that it was just a mistake," said the protesters.
The orders were received from both the President of the Republic of Artsakh and the President of the Republic of Armenia.
"With this step, we want to say that we are protesting against it and saying that we are going to fight so that this does not happen anymore. This step will be followed by other steps, which you will learn about," noted a representative of the protest group. No one from the government approached to take the medals and awards. The protesters left them on the ground in front of the police wall.
