The Armenian Red Cross Society (ARCS) and the Iranian Red Crescent Society have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the aim of implementing joint humanitarian programs in healthcare, social, and a number of other sectors.
The document was signed by ARCS President Davit Nersisyan and Iranian Red Crescent President Dr. Pirhossein Kolivand.
The cooperation envisages concrete and tangible steps. In a conversation with journalists, the President of the Iranian Red Crescent noted that one of the first steps of the cooperation will be the provision of medicines and necessary equipment to the Armenian Red Cross.
However, the cooperation has broader horizons. According to Dr. Kolivand, it is also planned to establish specialized treatment centers in Armenia. In particular, it is planned to create a cancer prevention and treatment center, as well as a modern surgery center equipped with modern equipment.
This initiative is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the ties between the two national societies and expanding the capacity of humanitarian and healthcare programs in Armenia, promising new opportunities for future cooperation.
