Armenian Parliamentary Delegation Visits Georgia

A delegation led by Sisak Gabrielyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, visited Georgia from October 27 to 29.
The delegation included Davit Danielyan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection; Narek Babayan and Julieta Ghazaryan, members of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport; and Hrachya Hakobyan, a member of the Standing Committee on Health Care.
The delegation from the RA National Assembly met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili; the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and head of the Georgia-Armenia parliamentary friendship group, Giorgi Volski; the Chairman of the Culture Committee, Giorgi Gabunia; the Chairman of the Diaspora Committee, Irakli Zarkua; and the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze.
During the meetings, issues related to Armenian-Georgian inter-parliamentary cooperation, education, science, youth, culture, and diaspora affairs were discussed. Also discussed was potential cooperation with Georgia within the framework of the large "Academic City" project, as well as the "Crossroads of Peace" project initiated by the RA Government, the unblocking of regional communications, and the latest developments in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
On October 28, a joint session of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport of the RA National Assembly and the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs of the Parliament of Georgia was held, co-chaired by committee chairmen Sisak Gabrielyan and Mariam Lashkhi. They discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of education, science, and youth policy, and new opportunities for implementing joint projects.
The delegation members visited the Petros Adamian Tbilisi State Armenian Drama Theatre, which has been completely reconstructed with funds from the "Cartu" foundation of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chairman of the "Georgian Dream" party. The grand opening of the theater will take place in the near future.
The RA National Assembly delegation also participated in the "National Teacher" award ceremony.
