Armenian Parliament Rejects Bill to Criminalize Genocide Denial

On October 2, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia rejected in the first reading the draft law on making amendments to the "Criminal Code," which proposes to criminalize the denial of the Armenian Genocide.

58 deputies voted against the draft proposed by the "Hayastan" faction, 26 voted in favor, and 2 deputies abstained.

Before the vote, the head of the "Civil Contract" faction, Hayk Konjoryan, had stated that the CC would vote against the draft.
