8 SEP 2025 19:33
Evasion of training gatherings will be punished more severely, and the powers of the Military Police will be expanded.
The Parliament has discussed a new legislative package in its first reading.
What is changing for those who evade training gatherings?
- It defines what is considered evasion (not going to the military commissariat, refusing a medical examination, etc.).
- A stricter punishment (2-5 years of imprisonment) is established for evasion by means of self-harm, feigning illness, or forging a document.
- Those who voluntarily report for the gathering will be exempt from criminal liability.
What new powers will the Military Police have?
- It will deal not only with the prevention of crimes but also with their detection and disclosure.
- It will assist military commissariats in organizing conscription and training gatherings.
The draft has already passed its first reading in the National Assembly and has received the approval of the parliamentary committee.
