On September 29, RA Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan received a delegation led by Marc Richard, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Brunswick, Canada, who was on a working visit to Armenia.
Welcoming the attendees, Arpine Sargsyan also addressed the trends in crime, including juvenile delinquency, discussing issues related to the commission of crimes by minors, their imprisonment, and resocialization.
In the context of the comprehensive reforms being carried out in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Deputy Chiefs of Police Vardan Vardanyan and Karen Hakobyan detailed the formation of the Criminal and Community Police under their respective commands, as well as the main directions of these services' activities.
Marc Richard expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stated his readiness for support and exchange of experience.
Issues related to the resocialization of convicted minors and their reintegration into public life were discussed.
Also discussed were issues concerning the provision of advisory reports to the Court on the personality of the accused during the consideration of the choice of preventive measures or the imposition of punishment in the form of imprisonment in courts.
Representatives of the Supreme Judicial Council of the RA participated in the meeting.
