On Saturday, November 29, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the day of remembrance of the Holy Apostles and our first enlighteners Thaddeus and Bartholomew.
St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew were among the 12 tireless apostles of Christ who, coming to Armenia, preached Christianity to the Armenian people, earning the title "first enlighteners." Still at the dawn of Christianity, they were martyred in Armenia. As a result of the apostles' activities, in 301 the Armenian people were the first in the world to declare Christianity as the state religion.
Every year, a Holy and Immortal Liturgy is celebrated at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in memory of the Holy Apostles.
The Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the memory of the Holy Apostles and our first enlighteners, Thaddeus and Bartholomew, on the Saturday preceding the second Sunday of Pentecost.
