Within the framework of her working visit to the Republic of Italy, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, met with the General Military Prosecutor at the Supreme Court of Cassation of the Italian Republic, Maurizio Block, on November 6, 2025.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Italian Republic, Vladimir Karapetyan, the Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia and Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Grigor Elizbaryan, and the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Yeghiazar Avagyan.
Anna Vardapetyan expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and, as a result of the agreement reached in Armenia in 2024, emphasized the importance of signing the Memorandum of Understanding on Deepening Cooperation between the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia and the General Military Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Cassation of the Italian Republic.
"The effective work of the military prosecutor's office is of exceptional importance in a democratic society. We are taking measures to strengthen and improve the skills of military prosecutors. We regularly conduct training courses on Articles 2 (right to life) and 3 (prohibition of torture) of the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as Article 5 (right to liberty and security of person). The effective protection of the rights enshrined in these articles is particularly important from the perspective of strengthening human rights in the armed forces," noted the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia and highlighted the importance of constructive professional dialogues and the professional interaction of military prosecutors on issues such as military justice and discipline, and the specifics of exercising prosecutorial supervision over the legality of the examination of military cases.
Anna Vardapetyan also thanked the Chief Military Prosecutor of Italy, Maurizio Block, for being included in the editorial board of the scientific-practical journal "Legality" of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues regarding the deepening of cooperation directions.
