Citizens of the Republic of Armenia in the UAE will be able to drive freely with their national driver's license: Arpine Sargsyan and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan signed a memorandum.
On September 30, the delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, was received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Emirates, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Welcoming Arpine Sargsyan, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan highly appreciated the partnership relations between the two states and emphasized that there are prospects for further strengthening and developing cooperation between the two departments.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, thanking for the warm reception, also emphasized the need to strengthen the partnership relations between the internal affairs systems of the two states.
Arpine Sargsyan emphasized the role of the United Arab Emirates in providing an important platform for dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan in June of this year and expressed her gratitude.
Issues related to the expansion of cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two countries were discussed. The parties agreed to organize mutual visits of delegations and to develop a cooperation agenda based on them.
The meeting was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum, based on the principle of reciprocity, concerns the mutual recognition of driver's licenses issued by the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two states, namely: citizens of Armenia who are in the United Arab Emirates for non-residency purposes can drive freely in the territory of that state with their national driver's license, and in the case of being there for residency purposes, the person applying for the exchange of a driver's license is exempt from the related theoretical and practical exams.
Arpine Sargsyan and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan particularly emphasized the importance of the Memorandum and stressed that it is a positive step in terms of strengthening cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs and is aimed at relieving the citizens of both states from unnecessary inconvenience.
