Amendments will be made to the RA Law "On State Duty," as a result of which the penalties of about 5,000 taxi drivers in the RA will be amnestied. Armen Simonyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the RA, said this during the session of the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs. According to the Deputy Minister, the initiative concerns about 5,000 individuals providing licensed taxi services in 2015-19.
According to Simonyan, they are applying an amnesty because on June 29, 2015-19, the state duties for licensing were abolished, but the obligations to pay the duties were not.
"In 2019, the norms of state duties for licensing were declared invalid for taxi drivers who are individuals, but this activity continued to be subject to licensing. During this period, about 10,000 people were licensed, of which 5,000 have accumulated state duty obligations in the amount of about 1.3 billion drams, of which the penalty amounted to 400 million drams," the Deputy Minister noted.
During the committee session, the project unanimously received a positive conclusion and was included in the agenda of the NA plenary sessions.
