Armenia Ratifies ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment
12 SEP 2025 12:50
The National Assembly has ratified the 190th "Violence and Harassment Convention" of the International Labour Organization (ILO) with 94 votes in favor. This is reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
"The provisions of the Convention apply to both the public and private sectors; accordingly, it is planned to prevent and eliminate violence and harassment in the workplace, covering employees, trainees, volunteers, job seekers, and even persons whose employment has been terminated. It is aimed at promoting gender equality, the economic empowerment of women, and the protection of human rights.
It should be noted that the prohibitions of forced labor, discrimination, violence, and sexual harassment are already enshrined in the legislation of Armenia, but the process of ratification of the convention implies additional reforms," the statement said.
The ratification of the Convention is also in line with the goals set for strengthening the culture of decent work and social justice within the framework of the Global Coalition for Social Justice.
