Armenia Pursues a Balanced Foreign Policy, Says Mirzoyan

Armenia has long declared and successfully implemented a balanced foreign policy, maintaining equilibrium in relations with various geopolitical centers, even amid conflicts between them. This was stated by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a panel discussion at the "Orbeli-2025" forum.
He detailed that Armenia is developing a strategic partnership with the US and the United Kingdom, significantly deepening relations with the European Union, also taking into account the aspirations of Armenian society for EU membership. At the same time, Armenia values its partnership with the Russian Federation and maintains excellent relations with its immediate neighbors, Iran and Georgia. Concurrently, an intensive dialogue is underway to normalize relations with Turkey, and recently a strategic partnership has also been established with China.
Mirzoyan paid special attention to the normalization of regional relations, particularly the topic of unblocking infrastructure. He noted that in the past, there were circulating versions that third countries should have a presence, for example, along the reopened railway between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which was unacceptable for Armenia.
He emphasized that those concerns are no longer relevant, as the parties have agreed on clear principles that are enshrined in documents accepted by the international community. "Those principles are territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, sovereignty of countries, and the jurisdiction of countries over infrastructure, and, of course, reciprocity," the minister declared. According to him, with the enshrinement of these principles, the topic of control by third countries is "exhausted."
Summarizing his speech, Ararat Mirzoyan expressed confidence that the balanced policy pursued by Armenia is beneficial not only for the country but for the entire region. "We are managing to maintain this balance, from which, I am sure, our country and our neighbors will benefit," he concluded.
