MIA Warns of Armenia-Portugal Football Ticket Scams
1 SEP 2025 12:25
Tickets for the Armenia-Portugal football match are reportedly being resold at several times their original price. Resellers might sell one ticket to multiple people, and only the person who first activates the QR code will be able to enter the stadium. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RA has issued a warning about this.
"On the internet and social media sites, you may also encounter users and websites selling fake QR codes. The QR codes for the Armenia-Portugal football match tickets will only be activated on the day of the match, September 6, at 09:00. Therefore, any QR code shown or sold before then is fake," the MIA statement reads.
It should be recalled that the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) had previously issued a warning. The federation urged people not to buy tickets from the secondary market to avoid future complications, stating they are not responsible for tickets sold by other individuals.
"The 'Republican' stadium can accommodate a maximum of 14,000 fans. 470,000 people have submitted applications to purchase tickets. One fan could buy no more than 2 tickets, therefore it was possible to satisfy the demand of about 7,000 applications. Naturally, around 463,000 fans may complain that they could not buy a ticket."
