Armenia's Population Growth Tops Region at 2.3%

In 2024, Armenia's population growth rate was 2.3%, reported the World Bank. According to the Bank's data, this is the highest figure among the countries in the region. In Azerbaijan, this figure was 0.48%, in Iran 1%, and in Turkey 0.23%. Russia and Georgia recorded declines of 0.2% and 1.13%, respectively.
In January-July 2025, the ratio of births to deaths was 116.6 percent, which is 7 percent lower than the figure for the same period last year. It is true that the number of births is higher than the number of deaths, but compared to the same period last year, according to the Statistical Committee, it has decreased by 6 percent.
Incidentally, according to the World Bank, in 2025, the permanent population of Armenia crossed the 3 million threshold, reaching 3 million 76 thousand people.
