Armenia is Arming for Defense, Not Offense: Papikyan

Armenia is acquiring exclusively new-generation weapons. This was announced by RA Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan on the Public Television of Armenia on October 24. The minister also spoke about the already successful programs to develop local production.

"In these years, we have also given a boost to the local military industry. We have new, domestic weapons produced entirely as a result of Armenian thought. We must do everything to make Armenian weapons qualitatively competitive and enter the market," noted Papikyan.

He emphasized that by improving and re-equipping its armed forces, Armenia has no intention of attacking its neighbors.

"Armenia will use its armament and army only to protect its own sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. We have no intention of using our armed forces outside the borders of Armenia," Papikyan stressed.
