Armenia maintains a rich and dynamic relationship with the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), marked by a growing political and cultural commitment. Although French is not an official language there, Armenia has become an important player within the French-speaking world. In 2012, it became a full member of the OIF during the 14th Francophonie Summit in Kinshasa. The culmination of this commitment was hosting the 17th Francophonie Summit in Yerevan in October 2018. This event brought together many heads of state and government, placing Armenia at the center of the Francophone world.
Armenia is involved in several sectors of the Francophonie, particularly in education: several Armenian universities are members of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and a Francophone digital campus is established in Yerevan. Today, we welcome to our set a man with a rich career in higher education. Mohamed KETATA has extensive university experience in the fields of training, research, technology, administration, and international scientific cooperation. He supports many actions related to the development of scientific Francophonie. He was the director of AUF – Central and Eastern Europe, then rector of ESFAM, the specialized institution of the Francophonie for administration and management. He just retired this year, but he remains very attached to the Francophonie and has much to share with us.
