On November 24, political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries were held in Nicosia under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Vahan Kostanyan, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Theodora Constantinidou.
The discussions reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further deepen and develop bilateral relations in the political, economic, and cultural spheres. The parties discussed the current developments in Armenia-EU relations in the context of Cyprus's upcoming presidency in the EU Council.
The interlocutors emphasized that one of the most important achievements in bilateral relations is the opening of resident embassies in both countries, which marks a new stage of cooperation. The parties identified the main directions for deepening cooperation, highlighting business ties, education, and agriculture. The importance of cooperation in multilateral formats was stressed.
An exchange of views took place on a number of regional and international agenda issues. Reference was made to the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, the resumption of negotiations, and the settlement of the Cyprus issue, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement and international efforts to promote regional peace and security with full respect for international law.
