On September 18, FIFA published the latest list of national team rankings. After losing to Portugal 0-5 and defeating Ireland 2-1 this month, the Armenian national team has advanced 2 places and is now 103rd among 210 teams.
The world list has a new leader: it is the reigning European champion Spain, followed by France. The reigning world champion Argentina has dropped to 3rd place. The top 10 also includes England, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, and Italy.
Among our team's opponents in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Portugal has the best indicator, currently ranked 5th in the world (+1 compared to the previous list), Hungary is 41st (-3), and Ireland is 61st (-1).
Among the former USSR countries, Ukraine is in the highest position (28), followed by Russia (33), Uzbekistan (54), Georgia (68), and Belarus (100). The other teams are in lower positions than the Armenian national team.
Among Armenia's neighbors, Iran has the best indicator, ranked 21st, Turkey is 27th, Georgia, as mentioned, is in 68th place, and Azerbaijan is 124th.
The next ranking table will be published on October 23. Before that, on October 11 and 14, the Hungary-Armenia and Ireland-Armenia matches will take place.
