Arman Tatoyan Enters Politics With "Wings of Unity"

Arman Tatoyan, former Human Rights Defender of Armenia and former Deputy Minister of Justice, officially announced his entry into active politics and the launch of the "Wings of Unity" political initiative, which he leads. The newly created force aims to participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Tatoyan explained his decision by the current political situation, calling it an inevitable step. "For a long time, they have been asking me why I am not taking a bigger role in political life. The time has come when it has become inevitable. I can no longer treat political life, which is not pro-Armenian, purely professionally," he said in his opening speech, emphasizing that he can no longer limit himself to mere expert observations and must take practical steps.
Tatoyan stressed that all his and his teammates' efforts will be directed towards protecting the interests of the state and the people. "I will try to direct all the efforts of myself and my teammates, including through the 'Wings of Unity' political initiative, the idea of which stems from my desire to support the people and unite all our efforts," Tatoyan noted.
The meaning of the initiative's name, according to him, is the idea of consolidation and mutual support. "'Wings of Unity' means that we must be each other's wing and back, lift each other up, [achieve] the unity and solidarity of the Armenian people in Armenia and the Diaspora."
The initiative also has its symbol: the winged bull, which, according to Tatoyan, has a deep meaning. "Our symbol is the winged bull, on whose wings are attached the seven values that guide us. And the bull symbolizes strength, diligence, consistency, perseverance, patience, and victory. We will move forward under these symbols," he explained.
In his speech, the former ombudsman also touched upon the issues of overcoming defeat and the vision for the future, emphasizing that it is necessary to build a new history based on a dignified recovery. "Our defeat today is not the end of history; we now need a history of how to emerge from a defeated state with dignity and recover, how to become a united country again. We need solidarity and unification after division," he noted.
According to Tatoyan, one of the main goals of the movement is to build a simple and clear future, free from the burden of the past, by learning lessons from past mistakes. "Instead of the past, we need a future, we need a simple future that is not based on the urge to cover up the mistakes of the past or to prove that one was good in the past. This is precisely why we need unity. Our children, we should not carry the burden of the past, but we must be admonished by the past, learn lessons, and not allow mistakes to be repeated," concluded the leader of the initiative.
Tatoyan has called for cooperation with all capable individuals who are truly concerned about the events happening in and around Armenia. It is already known that Davit Ananyan, the former chairman of the State Revenue Committee, is on Arman Tatoyan's political team. The list, however, essentially remains open for additions.
