Civil Contract candidate on mandate of trust and post-election developments

16 NOV 2025 09:50
Throughout this entire period, we have conducted a campaign for one thing: to gain the absolute trust of the people of Vagharshapat. With that thought, I am here today. Argishti Mekhakyan, the "Civil Contract" party candidate for the head of Vagharshapat community, stated this after voting. Mekhakyan first and foremost emphasized the main goal of their campaign, noting that it was aimed at solving one overriding problem. "", - declared the candidate, expressing confidence that their message reached the voters.
Addressing possible post-election developments and the formation of coalitions, Mekhakyan preferred to refrain from speculation. According to him, as long as the election results are not known, it is premature to discuss which political forces will overcome the threshold and be represented in the council. "At this moment, we don't know how many forces will pass, which forces will enter the council; therefore, at this moment, there is no point in discussing something that will be based on assumptions," he noted.
As for possible alerts regarding electoral violations, the Civil Contract candidate directed to contact law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that dealing with them is the function of the police. "Those who have alerts, I suggest they approach the police, because the police are responsible for that," he said.
Mekhakyan also confirmed that he has the support of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which, according to him, was a prerequisite for his nomination. However, he clarified that the Prime Minister's visit to Vagharshapat to participate in the campaign was not planned in advance. Moreover, according to him, a rally was not even planned in the initial program, but the positive energy received from meetings with residents prompted the team to organize it.
In response to the question of how he would react to a possible defeat, Argishti Mekhakyan noted that they are an established political structure. "We are an established political force; you have seen what we do whether we win or lose elections," he concluded.
It should be recalled that 8 political forces are participating in the elections for the head and council members of Vagharshapat community.
