Anti-Government Protesters March in Tbilisi

13 OCT 2025 08:28
In the central streets of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, an anti-government march took place late in the evening of October 12, in which, according to preliminary data, about two thousand opposition protesters participated. The action passed without incident, meeting no interference from law enforcement bodies.
The protesters had gathered in Vere Park in the capital, from where they began their march towards the country's main legislative body. They walked about one and a half kilometers along Rustaveli Avenue, reaching the Georgian parliament building. The march participants carried the flags of Georgia and the European Union, and some were also seen holding the flags of the USA and Ukraine. Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue in front of the parliament building was temporarily stopped to ensure the safety of the protesters.
After reaching the parliament building, some of the protesters remained on the spot, continuing the protest in the format of a sit-in.
This march is taking place against the backdrop of the tense political situation that has recently developed. It should be recalled that on October 6, Georgian police arrested 13 people on suspicion of participating in the mass riots that took place on October 4. On that day, a group of protesters tried to storm the presidential palace, which was followed by a strong response from the authorities.
