Aliyev: War is Over, But Peace Treaty Hinges on Armenian Constitution

"I consider that this is truly the end of the conflict, of the war." The President of Azerbaijan stated this in an interview with "Al-Arabiya," pointing to the documents signed in Washington on August 8.
"The formal peace treaty has not been signed for only one specific reason: there is still a provision in the Armenian constitution that calls into question the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan," noted Ilham Aliyev.
"We understand that they will make a change. And the moment that constitutional change is made, when the territorial claims against Azerbaijan are removed, a formal peace treaty will be signed. But the very fact of the initialing of this document by Azerbaijan and Armenia at the White House, in the presence of President Trump, already means the end of the war, which has lasted intermittently for more than thirty years," said the President of Azerbaijan.
