Aliyev: US Investors Could Build "Trump Road"

The construction of the road to Nakhchivan could be carried out by American investors. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated this in an interview with "Al-Arabiya."

"Now that US President Donald Trump has given his name to the Zangezur corridor, I am confident that it will be implemented in the near future. As for the construction of the physical infrastructure, I mean the railway, it should not take much time, as the length of the route is only 42 kilometers. If we were to build it, we would complete it in one year, as we have more experience in building railways. Armenia might need a few years," the President of Azerbaijan said.

He emphasized that he is not as interested in the construction timeline of the railway as he is in the security of those passing through it. "It is important for us that the railway is built and that there are international security guarantees. In other words, Azerbaijanis traveling from Nakhchivan to the main part of the country or in the opposite direction should not feel any inconvenience. They should not worry about their security, given the long-standing conflict and hostility," Aliyev said.
