Alen Simonyan: There is No Opposition in Parliament

There is currently no opposition in the Armenian parliament. Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan expressed such an opinion in a briefing with journalists.
"There is no longer an opposition in parliament. There are some individuals who are now looking for a place in other political forces and to get into the future parliament," said Alen Simonyan. He expressed conviction that as a result of the next elections, the majority of the current opposition will also be out of Parliament.
"I think there is an extra-parliamentary opposition. I hope that most of them will appear in the upcoming elections. There are also opposition politicians outside the parliament, and I hope they will appear in the parliament, and we will finally have an opposition in the parliament," noted the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
He does not consider Samvel Karapetyan's political force, which is yet to be founded, a serious competitor for the Civil Contract party. "There is no political force there, there is a wealthy man who ended up in prison, and, as has been done for years, he is trying to find political asylum in the National Assembly," said the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Simonyan sees no dangerous points in relations with Tehran. "The Republic of Armenia has not done and will not do anything in its policy that would be aimed against any of our neighbors, including against Iran," he said during the briefing.
On the contrary, the Republic of Armenia is trying to normalize relations with those neighbors with whom it has had problems for decades. This also includes Azerbaijan. "There will be Azerbaijani goods in our stores. For example, Armenians will go to buy cheaper gasoline, this is inevitable," said Alen Simonyan.
The Speaker of the Parliament also spoke about the 44-day war. The Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan is currently studying the report of the commission investigating the circumstances of the war. After that, it will be clear when and in what format the report can be presented, he said in a briefing with journalists.
