Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan Sues Podcast Host

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, has filed a lawsuit in a civil court against Vazgen Saghatelyan, the co-host of the "Imnemnimi" podcast, demanding a public apology and financial compensation for insulting publications. This is reported by "Armenpress," citing the "Datalex" judicial information system.

The lawsuit, accepted by the Yerevan Civil Court, concerns Saghatelyan's posts on the "Facebook" social network on November 8, 2025, which, according to Simonyan, contained insulting expressions addressed to him. The plaintiff demands that Vazgen Saghatelyan be obliged to publicly apologize by posting a statement with the following content on "Facebook" or in a print newspaper with a circulation of at least 5,000 for five consecutive days:

"I, Vazgen Armeni Saghatelyan, apologize to Alen Simonyan," to collect 2 million drams from Vazgen Saghatelyan as compensation for the insult, and to collect 530 thousand drams for court costs, including 480 thousand drams for the lawyer's fee and 50 thousand drams for the state duty.

The case has been assigned to Judge Alla Kyurkchyan of the Yerevan Civil Court.
