Afghanistan, Pakistan Cease Military Operations
12 OCT 2025 08:09
Afghanistan has ceased military operations with Pakistan. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Pakistan.
Earlier, information was spread that Pakistan and Afghanistan had exchanged strikes on military targets. Al Jazeera, citing the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan, reported the outbreak of clashes in seven border provinces. The operation began in response to shelling in Kabul and the provinces of Khost and Nangarhar. Afghanistan launched strikes on military bases along the eastern and southern borders. Tolo News, citing a statement from the Taliban government's Ministry of Defense, reports that facilities used for launching drones into Afghanistan were targeted.
Pakistan's SAMAA television channel claims that Afghanistan opened fire without any justification. Taliban forces attacked Pakistani border posts in several directions, causing Pakistani soldiers to retreat in some areas, reports the Tolo News website. 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed during the clashes. Pakistan responded by destroying several Afghan posts.
The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan announced the end of the "retaliatory operation" and warned that if Pakistan violates the border again, the country's armed forces "will give a decisive response."
Later, Pakistan announced the capture of 19 Afghan border posts as a result of the clashes.
