The 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to scientists Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar Yaghi "for the development of metal-organic frameworks."
According to the Nobel Committee's explanation, the scientists have created unique molecular constructions through which gases and other chemical substances can pass. These structures, called metal-organic frameworks, have enormous potential for application.
Specifically, they can be used to collect water from the air in deserts, capture carbon dioxide, store toxic gases, or catalyze chemical reactions, opening new horizons in the fields of environmental protection and industry.
