Nearly 200,000 Ukrainians who entered the United States under the administration of current President Donald Trump are at risk of losing their legal status in the country due to delays in processing extension applications under the Trump administration, reports Reuters, citing previously unpublished US government data.
According to the report, approximately 260,000 people from Ukraine have entered the United States since April 2022 under a program initiated by the administration of former President Joe Biden.
It is noted that delays in processing applications by foreigners to extend their legal status in the United States began after Trump took office.
According to US government data cited by the agency, US authorities have processed only 1,900 status extension applications for citizens of Ukraine and other countries since May 2025.
"The Trump administration's delays in processing applications under the humanitarian program for Ukrainians launched by former President Joe Biden have put nearly 200,000 people at risk of losing their legal status as of March 31," the agency's statement said.
