Iran's Parliament Warns Against Zangezur Corridor

The Iranian Parliament has adopted a statement which includes a detailed reference to its connections with the South Caucasus and the inadmissibility of creating obstacles for Tehran on this path.
The statement adopted by the Iranian Parliament notes that any action to change recognized borders, create forced corridors, or implement projects like the "Zangezur corridor" would be incompatible with the interests of the region's countries and would become a direct threat to collective security.
"The Islamic Consultative Assembly has emphasized the strategic position of the South Caucasus for the country, also considering it part of Iran's security perimeter, strategic depth, and civilizational sphere. Iran reserves the right to use all political, legal, and legitimate means to defend itself decisively in the event of an attack on Iran. The South Caucasus is of vital importance not only in terms of security but also as an important energy, transit, and economic route for Iran and the entire region. Any economic and transit project aimed at weakening Iran's geo-economic position is unacceptable. We call on all countries in the region to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness, avoid actions that create tension, and expand regional cooperation without the presence of foreign states," the statement from the Iranian parliament reads.
